Light-as-Air, Heatproof Nanotube Muscles




Ray Baughman, director of the Nanotech Institute at UT Dallas, developed the carbon-nanotube-based "artificial muscles" for prosthetics and robotics. The ability to withstand high temperatures also make the muscles suitable for other applications as aircraft wing shape shifting.
